Ganja, Minsk plants partner to strengthen economic, urban development PHOTO
Azerbaijan and Belarus have taken a significant step to deepen economic cooperation with the signing of a new agreement between the Ganja Automobile Plant and the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ).
The pact covers the assembly of a new batch of municipal vehicles at Ganja, built on MAZ chassis, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Khanlar Fatiyev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Ganja Automobile Plant and a member of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis, spoke at the signing ceremony, noting that the agreement implements directives from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko during the latter’s state visit to Azerbaijan.
“Collaboration between the Ganja Automobile Plant and MAZ began after President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Belarus in 2006, when an initiative was launched to engage with Belarusian partners. Since then, approximately 15,000 tractors and 4,000 MAZ vehicles have been produced. On March 2, the first batch of municipal vehicles under this partnership was presented to President Ilham Aliyev. His positive evaluation has encouraged us to further expand this fruitful cooperation. Following the agreement reached between our heads of state in Shusha, we are now jointly assembling municipal vehicles. The equipment we produce meets modern quality standards and market requirements and is used in cities across Azerbaijan,” Fatiyev said.
The agreement was signed alongside Valery Ivankovich, General Director of OJSC MAZ.
The municipal vehicles produced under this partnership are equipped with modern machinery designed and assembled in Ganja and are intended to service urban infrastructure nationwide, modernizing Azerbaijan’s municipal fleet and strengthening industrial ties between the two nations.
