Georgian religious figure urges everyone to come to Karabakh at least once
The Azerbaijani territories where mosques and cemeteries were destroyed during the years of occupation are now undergoing restoration, Georgian religious figure Mahmud Akhmedov said.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to Shusha, Akhmedov expressed deep emotion over witnessing the changes taking place in the region, Caliber.Az quotes.
"Being in Shusha seems like a dream for me, but, thank God, it is a reality," said Akhmedov, who arrived from Georgia’s Marneuli district.
He also expressed hope that every Muslim would one day have the opportunity to visit Karabakh.
“We are on this holy land thanks to the martyrs and veterans. Let everyone who dreams of seeing Karabakh come here at least once,” he noted.
The visit began on May 31 and was organised by the State Committee for Work with Religious Organisations of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the Foundation for the Promotion of Spiritual Values. The initiative aims to strengthen spiritual and religious unity and foster deeper solidarity between Azerbaijan and its diaspora communities.
More than 30 Azerbaijani clerics from abroad are participating in the three-day programme, which is scheduled to run until June 2.
