Hovhannisyan: Meeting between Pashinyan and Lukashenko changes nothing
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan does did not resolve issues between Minsk and Yerevan, said Civil Contract faction secretary Arthur Hovhannisyan.
Hovhannisyan stated that, Armenia's relations with Belarus have not changed, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
"The President of Belarus was also present at the BRICS event. Relations with Belarus remain unchanged," he noted.
Notably, the Belarus President, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has recently made a series of pointed remarks directed at Yerevan, revealing details from private discussions with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The President of Belarus particularly expressed confidence that the Armenian leadership is to blame for the events that took place in recent years in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
Lukashenko criticized the Armenian leadership, attributing the recent turmoil in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan solely to their actions.
Lukashenko also expressed doubts about Armenia's current political trajectory, criticizing the country's apparent shift toward the West and the European Union. He noted that despite Belarus' efforts to support Armenia and foster cooperation, Armenia now seems to be pursuing a path of alignment with Western interests, which Lukashenko views with skepticism.
