Iran ready to expand trade, transit ties with Azerbaijan
A meeting has been held between the chairmen of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Iran.
Iran’s Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Turkiye’s Mustafa Shentop, and Azerbaijan’s Sahiba Gafarova held their meeting on the sidelines of the 13th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) on January 9, according to IRNA.
They discussed key regional issues with the aim of developing economic and political relations.
Qalibaf told his Azerbaijani counterpart that parliamentary interactions can play a great role in developing relations between the two neighbors. He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to expand trade and transit with Azerbaijan.
Gafarova, for her part, said that there are numerous grounds for cooperation between Tehran and Baku. She also said Azerbaijan wants and supports peace and stability in the region.
