Iran's ambassador: Armenia assured TRIPP project poses no risk to Tehran
Armenian authorities have assured Tehran that the implementation of the TRIPP project will not create challenges or threats for Iran, Iran's ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgolami, has said.
He noted that they should create a mechanism through which Armenia can realise the opportunity to unblock regional transport links, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“But beyond that, it is necessary to manage the potential risks associated with the US presence [in the region] and possible threats to Iran, and to provide a clear response," the ambassador added.
The TRIPP initiative was launched following a trilateral meeting in Washington on August 8, 2025, where US President Donald Trump, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint declaration on a peace settlement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The agreement also provided for the establishment of a transport corridor linking mainland Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan, a project subsequently named the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).
