Iranian FM denies direct nuclear talks with Trump’s envoy
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has denied reports of direct nuclear negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, Tasnim reports.
“The information regarding my recent contact with Witkoff is not accurate,” the Iranian diplomat said in response to the news.
Araghchi emphasised that Iran and the United States can, if necessary, exchange information either directly or through third parties.
This denial follows recent media reports alleging that Araghchi and Witkoff had engaged in direct discussions aimed at initiating an interim agreement between the two nations. The reports suggested that Iran had proposed a phased approach to nuclear negotiations, contingent on the lifting of certain sanctions and a cessation of Israeli military actions.
