Minister: Kars-Iğdır-Aralık-Dilucu railway to reach 10% completion by year-end

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has said that the Kars-Iğdır-Aralık-Dilucu railway project will be implemented until 2028.

He made the remarks on September 23 during the Railway Week celebrated in the country Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

According to the Turkish minister, 10 per cent of the works within the framework of the construction of the strategically important railroad to the border with Nakhchivan will be completed by the end of this year.

The length of the railway line from Turkish Kars to the border with Azerbaijan will be 224 kilometres. Within the framework of the transportation and logistics project it is planned to build five stations, and the speed of trains will reach 160 km/h.

The Turkish Ministry of Transport earlier said that the new road project in the direction of Nakhchivan is of strategic importance for the country and is part of the Iron Silk Road, which will also ensure the continuity of the railroads of Türkiye and Iran.
