11 November 2023 11:20

During the 30 years of occupation, our libraries and book fund were seriously damaged by Armenians, Culture Minister Adil Kerimli said at the opening of the 9th Baku International Book Exhibition, APA reports.

"A total of 927 libraries, about 5,000 of our book funds were completely destroyed in Karabakh during the occupation," the minister said.

Adil Kerimli added that every citizen's support is needed in returning book culture to Karabakh.

It should be noted that the 9th Baku International Book Fair 2023, organised by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, kicked off at the Baku Expo Centre on November 11.

More than 30 organisations from 11 countries, 131 domestic publishing houses and enterprises operating in the printing and book industry are taking part in the exhibition.

Within the framework of the exhibition, events of various formats (book presentations, autograph sessions, meetings with readers, participation in panels with foreign authors) will be organised in the exhibition hall.

The event will bring together Azerbaijani poets and writers, young authors, as well as foreign guests.
