MPs condemn demolition of monument to Azerbaijani poetess in France
Azerbaijani MP Tural Ganjaliyev has said that Azerbaijan has been recently carrying out very important activity on international platforms.
Ganjaliyev made these remarks at the meeting of the Azerbaijani parliament, APA reports.
The MP noted that “Azerbaijani Park” inscriptions were removed and the statue of Azerbaijani poetess Khurshudbanu Natavan was demolished in a park in France.
“UNESCO, which is responsible for the preservation of cultural heritage in the world, is located in France. France is not entitled to teach Azerbaijan and other countries a lesson about human rights and cultural heritage. France has conducted more than 200 nuclear weapons tests in French Polynesia since the 1960s,” he noted.
Another Azerbaijani MP Hikmet Babaoglu noted that the monument to Khurshudbanu Natavan in France was barbarically dismantled.
“However, when France voiced anti-Azerbaijani statements during the 44-day second Karabakh war, no one burned poet Victor Hugo’s works, because cultural people live in Azerbaijan,” he added.
The mayor's office of the French city of Évian-les-Bains, which signed a charter of cooperation with the Azerbaijani city of Ismayilli in 2015, decided to remove “Azerbaijani Park” inscriptions in the city. “Azerbaijani Park” was opened within the above-mentioned cooperation charter in 2017.
