Russian MFA summons US diplomat

The Russian Foreign Ministry has lodged a formal protest with US Chargé d'Affaires in Russia Stephanie Holmes over the illegal entry of the US journalists into the Kursk region.

A strong protest was expressed to Holmes on August 20, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement on Telegram.

The protest was in response to the provocative actions of the US reporters who illegally entered the Kursk region to propagate coverage of crimes committed by the Kyiv regime. Additionally, the statement addressed emerging evidence of the US private military contractors participating alongside Ukrainian forces in their invasion of Russian territory, the statement says.

According to the statement, such actions, which contradict the Biden administration's claims of non-involvement in the attacks by Ukrainian neo-Nazis on Russia, clearly demonstrate the US involvement as a direct participant in Zelenskyy's malicious plans. In accordance with the Russian Criminal Code, the relevant agencies will conduct necessary investigations to hold any American citizens involved in these crimes accountable. Additionally, all foreign "specialists" who illegally cross the border into Russia will automatically become legitimate military targets for the Russian Armed Forces.
