Turkish Albayrak Group plans to enhance capacity of Middle Corridor
Business Development Director of the Turkish Albayrak Group Cumhur Guzelciftci has said that Albayrak Group plans to increase the capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) through the ports of Baku and Trabzon.
Guzelciftci made these remarks at the session on “Seaports and Terminals: Development of Transport Logistics Infrastructure in the Black and Caspian Seas” at the Black and Caspian Freight Forum 2024 in Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He noted that 180,000 tons of goods were transported between the two ports from January to August 2024. “We aim to boost cargo flow and plan to activate the Trabzon port. Our investments in this area will continue. We want to make the Middle Corridor more attractive,” he said.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) is an integral component of the Belt and Road Initiative, established to create a direct transportation link from Asia to Europe. The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route starts from Southeast Asia and China, runs through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to European countries. It aims to facilitate trade and economic cooperation by connecting major economic regions through a network of railways, highways, and maritime routes.
