Turkish M109 self-propelled guns upgraded to 52 caliber PHOTO
BAE Systems conducted the first fire tests of the 155-mm M109 self-propelled howitzer, modified with a 52-caliber gun manufactured by the German company Rheinmetall.
The new howitzer, upgraded with the L52 cannon, was named M109-52, SavunmaSanayiST.com reports tweeted on X, Caliber.Az reports.

It is described as a high-performance modernization with low-risk level to replace the existing 39-caliber gun. As with the T-155 FIRTINA howitzers, the transition of the M109 howitzers to 52 caliber guns will increase their range.
The 155-mm M109 self-propelled howitzer is in the arsenal of the Turkish army.
