Turkish president to leave for Egypt on October 13 To attend Gaza Peace Summit
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will travel to Egypt on Monday, October 13, to participate in a summit on Gaza.
The “Peace Summit” will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on October 13 to discuss a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip under the peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, Caliber.Az reports, citing Haber Global.
Leaders from 20 countries, including Azerbaijan, have been invited to the event.
Participants are expected to discuss steps to maintain the truce between Israel and Hamas, as well as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The October 13 "Peace Summit" in Sharm el-Sheikh—co-chaired by Trump and Egypt's Abdel Fattah el-Sisi—gathers 20+ leaders (e.g., UK's Keir Starmer, France's Emmanuel Macron, Italy's Giorgia Meloni, Spain's Pedro Sanchez; UN's António Guterres) to formalize the deal. Discussions target truce sustainability, humanitarian crises (e.g., aid via U.S.-backed foundations, returning displaced Gazans), Gaza rebuilding (~$50B estimated), and de-escalation with proxies like Hezbollah. Israel retains partial control; a multinational force (including Turkish troops) eyes deployment for security.
