Türkiye, Azerbaijan to launch joint projects in Khankandi Turkish MP reveals
Türkiye and Azerbaijan are set to embark on collaborative projects in the city of Khankandi as part of their ongoing efforts to revitalize and develop the liberated territories.
Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Turkish Grand National Assembly revealed the plans as he spoke to local media, Caliber.Az reports.
Oktay emphasized that Türkiye has been steadfast in supporting Azerbaijan since the de-occupation of its territories and will continue to assist in reconstruction efforts.
“We have been providing support since the first days of de-occupation. We intend to further implement projects in agriculture, health care, and other areas. In particular, new joint projects are expected in Khankandi,” Oktay stated.
In a related development, Fuat Oktay also addressed the broader regional dynamics, calling on Armenia to pursue a stable peace with Azerbaijan. Speaking to journalists, Oktay acknowledged that the war with Armenia had ended and that an opportunity for peace now exists.
Oktay reiterated that Azerbaijan and Armenia must work together to achieve lasting peace without external intervention. "This peace can be ensured without the intervention of third countries. We hope to achieve peace as soon as possible," Oktay remarked. He also responded to concerns about Azerbaijan’s stance on Armenia, clarifying that the focus is on securing long-term stability in the region.
“It is incorrect to say that Azerbaijan is 'forcing Armenia to amend its Constitution.' Azerbaijan is doing this in order to achieve lasting peace. As long as Armenia continues to have territorial claims against Azerbaijan in its Constitution, true peace will remain unattainable,” Oktay explained.
He further stated that Türkiye and Azerbaijan are prepared to normalize relations with Armenia, but emphasized that Armenia must first resolve its territorial claims in order to pave the way for lasting peace.
