US to continue to promote direct Baku-Yerevan dialogue
Despite the end of the term of office of Senior Adviser on Negotiations in the Caucasus Philip Reeker, the United States will continue to promote security and peace in the South Caucasus.
“Since the beginning of Ambassador Philip Reeker’s appointment as a Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations in August last year, it was always understood and expected that he would serve in this position on a short-term basis until the end of 2022,” State Department said, adding that “Ambassador Reeker’s pre-planned departure in no way undermines the United States’ commitment to promoting a secure, stable, democratic, prosperous, and peaceful future for the South Caucasus region,” a source in the State Department told Report.
As noted, the US continues to engage bilaterally, with like-minded partners like the European Union, and through international organisations like the OSCE to facilitate direct dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia and find solutions to all remaining issues.
