Turkish NSC: Resolution of Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict to contribute to global stability
A fair settlement of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan will not only be the basis for lasting peace in the Caucasus but will also make an important contribution to global stability, a statement issued at the end of the first meeting of Türkiye's new National Security Council says.
The council expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in the negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, APA's Istanbul correspondent reports.
The NSC meeting also highlighted the growing risks for the region from the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine: "Türkiye will continue to contribute to ending conflicts, peace talks and efforts to ensure global food security."
Stressing that the preservation of Syria's territorial integrity and the establishment of lasting peace and stability is only possible by cleansing it of terrorist organisations, the council underlined the importance of international cooperation, which will facilitate efforts to bring Syrians who fled the conflict back to their homes voluntarily, safely and with dignity, and live in peace and prosperity.
NSC members stressed the importance of Türkiye's support to the region while continuing dialogue and consultation processes to prevent the problem from turning into a crisis, since the growing tensions in Kosovo may also upset the balance in the region.
