Armenian media forecast major government changes

30 August 2022 11:54

Armenian media have predicted serious changes in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's government in autumn.

"Nikol Pashinyan intends to cede the ministerial portfolios to his long-time partners in the Yelk (Exit) bloc - representatives of the Enlightened Armenia and Republic parties. However, in fact, this is not a manifestation of goodwill on the part of Pashinyan, but quite the opposite: he is gradually trying, so to speak, to shift responsibility for a number of areas from himself," Yerevan-based Iravunk newspaper writes, according to Caliber.Az.

"Of course, he does not see the cadres of Edmon Marukyan and Aram Sargsyan in the departments of key importance: they will probably be satisfied with coordinating a number of secondary ministries.

And it is possible that [Armenian ambassador at large] Edmon Marukyan and [Republic party leader]Aram Sargsyan will receive quite serious portfolios, for example, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. By the way, the Country of Life party also received an offer to join the government, in particular, the former member of Enlightened Armenia, Manya Tandilyan, was again promised the post of minister. However, they have not yet come to a final agreement on some issues," the newspaper adds.
