Armenian opposition leader mocks Pashinyan's proposal to sign non-agreed deal “This is just idiocy”
In diplomacy, partial agreements hold no weight until all points are settled, according to Hayk Mamijanyan, the head of the opposition "I Have Honor" faction and a member of the Republican Party of Armenia.
Mamijanyan criticized the notion of achieving partial progress in negotiations, stating that until every point in a diplomatic agreement is fully resolved, the document remains 0% agreed upon, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
"Even if 15 out of 16 points are agreed upon, the document's coherence is still 0%, as the lack of agreement on this 1 point can destroy all previous agreements," Mamijanyan emphasized.
He pointed to the well-known rule of diplomacy: “Until everything is agreed upon, nothing is agreed upon,” stressing that it exists for a reason.
Mamijanyan went on to criticize what he sees as a flawed approach by the Armenian government, accusing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of using the peace agreement in a political manoeuvre aimed at electoral gains.
“This is just idiocy: to propose conditions, get a refusal, and then propose to sign a document without them,” Mamijanyan stated, claiming that Pashinyan's push for a peace agreement is driven solely by his desire to frame the deal as a victory in his upcoming election campaign.
