Azerbaijan increases electricity production, exports
Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has written that according to operational data for January-August this year, electricity production was 19,235.4 million kWh, exports to 858.9 million kWh and imports to 125.5 million kWh.
“Compared to the same period last year, electricity production amounted to 2,771.8 million KWh with two-fold increase from the renewables, including hydropower. Thus, during this period, the share of green energy in electricity generation reached to 14 per cent,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the minister’s message on X.
According to operational data for 2023, total electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 29,276.6 million kWh in December 2023. In comparison with December 2022, electricity production increased by 272.3 million kWh (0.9 per cent).
During 12 months, electricity production at thermal power plants (TPPs) amounted to 27,160.4 million kWh, at hydropower plants (HPPs) to 1,757.2 million kWh, and on other sources to 359.0 million kWh. In 2023, the electricity exports amounted to 3252.5 mln kWh, and imports to 211.8 mln kWh. The electricity generation in Azerbaijan in December 2023 amounted to 2,788.7 million kWh. During the month, exports of electricity production amounted to 504.3 million kWh, imports to 11.0 million kWh.
