Azerbaijan leading regional country for economic development - minister

Azerbaijan is a leading country in the South Caucasus region in terms of economic development.

Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov made the remarks in an event in Baku organised by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) on April 25, Report informs.

According to him, the Azerbaijani government’s main goal is to diversify the economy by using the country's natural resources.

"As for the economy’s diversification, attention is primarily paid to the development of agriculture. We are making great efforts to achieve a sustainable transformation of our agri-food systems," he said.

Mammadov stressed that "green" recovery, digitalisation and innovative solutions are the main principles of the agenda for the creation of a sustainable national agricultural food system.

In this regard, it is very important to implement the "Unified Health" initiative, which combines measures to protect the health of people, animals and the environment, he said.
