Azerbaijan Shipping Company's tanker makes first sail in Turkmenistan PHOTOS
The first mission of the "Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade" tanker took place at the port of Kiyanly (Turkmenistan).
The ship was built at the Baku shipbuilding plant as ordered by the "Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Company" (ASCO) and commissioned last December with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev.
The tanker successfully completed its route and delivered crude oil from Kiyanly to Azerbaijan's Sangachal Seaport.
The tanker has a length of 141 meters and a width of 16.9 meters with a carrying capacity of 7800 tons. The ship’s permanent crew consists of 15 men.
Construction of the tanker began in August 2019. The vessel is equipped with machinery from well-known manufacturers such as "Wärtsilä Finland Oy" (Finland), "Wartsila Svanehoy A/S" (Norway), "Carrier" (USA), "Gürdesan Gemi Mak.San" and "Tic. A.Ş." (Türkiye), "Tranzas" (Norway) and "Alfa-Laval" (Sweden).
The new tanker is the third of four tankers built at the Baku shipbuilding plant. Unlike the oil tankers "Lachin" (December 2019) and "Kalbajar" (September 2021) which were put into operation earlier, "Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade" can transport both oil and chemical products. Compared to other tankers of the ASCO, the draught of the tanker allows it to enter relatively shallow ports in the Caspian region and transport cargo outside the Caspian via Russian waterways.
