Azerbaijan to join development of Turkish fifth-generation fighter jet PHOTO
Azerbaijan has decided to cooperate with Türkiye regarding the KAAN fighter jet developed under the National Combat Aircraft Programme.
The national Combat aircraft programme initiated by the Turkish Defence Industries continues under the leadership of the Turkish Aerospace Company TUSAŞ, SavunmaSanayiST.com said on Twitter, Caliber.Az reports.

The KAAN fighter developed as part of the programme is scheduled to make its first flight by late 2023.
Azerbaijan has made an important decision regarding the KAAN fighter, which recently began ground tests. In accordance with the decision, Türkiye and Azerbaijan will cooperate in the development of a national KAAN combat aircraft.
In this regard, the "Signing Ceremony of the agreement on national cooperation in the development of combat aircraft" will take place tomorrow on the margins of IDEF-23.
An agreement between the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan and TUSAŞ company will be signed at the ceremony in the presence of the head of the Defense Industry Haluk Gergun.
Türkiye has previously stated that in terms of tactical and technical characteristics, Kaan will surpass the American F-35 and in the future will replace the F-16 fighters in service with the republic's Air Force.
