Azerbaijan, Türkiye forge strongest ever alliance, says speaker Sahiba Gafarova
Azerbaijan's relations with Türkiye have reached the highest level of alliance, thanks to the determination and joint efforts of Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to Speaker of Azerbaijan's parliament Sahiba Gafarova.
At a joint press conference with Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly, in Ankara, Gafarova emphasized the strength of bilateral ties, reflecting Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev’s vision of "one nation, two states," Caliber.Az reports via local media.
She emphasized that both nations have consistently supported each other on all issues. Gafarova also noted the growing expansion of inter-parliamentary relations, which are evolving in all directions.
She praised Türkiye’s comprehensive development under the leadership of President Erdoğan, which has seen the country achieve new heights across various sectors.
Furthermore, Gafarova underscored Türkiye’s global influence, describing it as a powerful state that plays a key role in maintaining global peace and stability.
The strong diplomatic ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye continue to shape their alliance, reinforcing the bond between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Numan Kurtulmuş highlighted Azerbaijan’s significant contributions to the Turkic world and stressed the need for sustainable peace in the South Caucasus.
He reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to regional stability and a just peace in the region, particularly through the Zangezur Corridor, which he described as vital for cooperation, security, and global trade.
He called for the corridor’s opening as a "corridor of peace," benefiting not only Azerbaijan and Türkiye but the entire region.
