Azerbaijani families receive keys to new flats in Seyidbayli PHOTO
A new group of former displaced Azerbaijani families has made an emotional return to the village of Seyidbayli in the Khojaly district, as the country continues its large-scale resettlement of people who were forced from their homes decades ago.
According to the Restoration, Construction, and Management Service in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, 11 families — 36 people in total — arrived in the newly rebuilt settlement on November 18, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Many had spent years living in temporary accommodation across the country, including hostels, sanatoriums and administrative buildings.
For the returnees, receiving the keys to their new homes marked a moment of relief and renewed hope. Several families said the handover symbolised the end of prolonged uncertainty and the start of rebuilding their lives in their native village.
Officials noted that the latest group builds on earlier resettlement efforts, with 27 families — 91 people — already having returned to Seyidbayli under the government’s Great Return programme, which aims to restore life across the liberated territories.
