Azerbaijani MP reveals numbers of tourism flow in districts
Azerbaijani MP and Economist Vugar Bayramov has released figures on the development of tourism in the country.
He noted that the vast majority of foreign tourists choose Baku for vacation, Caliber.Az reports.
"In particular, in the first half of 2023, 84.2 per cent of foreign tourists vacationed in Baku, 4 per cent in Gusar, 3.6 per cent in Naftalan, 3.4 per cent in Gabala, 2 per cent in Guba, 0.4 per cent in Ganja, 2.4 per cent in other regions of the republic,” he said.
Unfortunately, hotels in the districts are losing the battle for tourists to capital hotels. According to the economist, the districts do not sufficiently present their tourism potential, which creates difficulties in attracting foreign tourists.
On the other hand, in many districts, the prices for tourist services are very high and do not correspond to the presented quality, he added.
“As a result, the tourist potential of the districts of the republic is not fully utilised. It is necessary to accelerate the work on reintegration of tourist potential in the districts, to increase investment and competition. Because tourism attracts foreign currency to the country, allows developing districts and creating new jobs", Bayramov emphasised.
