Baku commemorates national hero of Azerbaijan Albert Agarunov PHOTO/VIDEO
Events dedicated to the birthday of Azerbaijan’s national hero of Jewish descent Albert Agarunov have been held in Baku.
Wreaths were laid at the monument to the national hero in Narimanov district on behalf of the Defence Ministry, the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora, the religious community of mountain Jews in Baku, and the public association "Veterans of tanks", Caliber.Az reports citing the Defence Ministry.
It was noted that Azerbaijan is a tolerant country. Representatives of all peoples living here fought courageously for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
It was emphasised that Albert Agarunov was a Jew, but at the same time, he was an Azerbaijani, a true citizen of Azerbaijan.
It was also noted that after his death, Albert Agarunov became a symbol of further strengthening friendship and brotherhood between the Azerbaijani and Jewish peoples.
