Baku extends congratulations to Gambia’s new top diplomat

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a phone conversation with Gambian Foreign Minister Serign Modou Nije, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told local media.

The two ministers discussed a wide range of issues concerning both bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Gambia.

During the conversation, Bayramov congratulated Nije on his appointment as Foreign Minister and wished him success in his future work.

The discussion also covered cooperation within international organisations, including the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement. The ministers reviewed Gambia’s priorities as the current chair of the OIC, as well as Azerbaijan’s preparations for its upcoming chairmanship.

In addition, the sides exchanged views on regional matters of mutual interest.
