Foreign diplomats tour Karabakh's largest hydroelectric power plant
On September 18, diplomats stationed in Azerbaijan visited the "Yukhari Veng" hydroelectric power plant (HPP), a newly inaugurated facility with a capacity of 22.5 MW, located on the Tartar River in the Kalbajar district.
The plant, recently launched by Azerenerji OJSC, represents a significant milestone in the region’s green energy initiatives, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
Accompanied by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, the delegation was given a comprehensive tour of the power plant. They were briefed on the station's operations and informed about the involvement of international companies in its construction.
The "Yukhari Veng" HPP aligns with President Ilham Aliyev’s strategy to transform the liberated territories into a green energy hub. It stands as the largest source of renewable energy established in the region following Azerbaijan's victory in the Patriotic War.
During their visit, the diplomats also explored the Sarsang Reservoir and Sugovushan Recreation Park in Kalbajar. This visit is part of a series of regular tours for foreign diplomats to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, reflecting ongoing international interest in the region.
Kalbajar was freed from Armenian occupation on November 25, 2020, after being under occupation since April 2, 1993.
