From resettlement to reeducation: Lachin residents get new professions PHOTO

As part of the measures implemented under the Great Return Programme, work has begun on the coverage of active employment programmes for residents resettled in their native land - the city of Lachin.

In the first stage, the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection is holding meetings with these residents to assess their employment opportunities.

The press service of the Ministry of Labour told Caliber.Az that meetings with 38 families have already been held and employment programmes they will be involved in have been determined.

On this basis, at the next stage employment of Lachin residents will be arranged for suitable vacancies, they will be involved in self-employment programmes, as well as vocational training courses will be organised for some of the residents to get new professions.

It is also planned to implement various support programmes together with employers working in Lachin.

Today several more families left for Lachin city.

The next convoy was sent from Gobu Park 3 residential complex in the Garadagh district of Baku city. At this stage, 18 more families - 73 people - have moved to Lachin.

The families will settle in the houses that were restored or rebuilt on the instructions of the head of state after the end of the occupation.

Representatives of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, the Special Representation of the President of Azerbaijan in Lachin district, which is part of the East Zangazur Economic Region, and the Lachin District Executive Authority took part in the ceremony of sending the families to Lachin.

Thus, 111 families - 424 people - have been provided with permanent residence in Lachin town.
