He fought and died for his Homeland In memory of Polad Hashimov

Today, July 14, marks two years since the heroic death of General Polad Hashimov. The courageous officer was killed on July 14, 2020, while preventing provocations of the Armenian side in Tovuz direction.

Polad Hashimov was born on January 2, 1975, in the Vendam settlement of the Gabala region. Hashimov finished secondary school in the city of Sumgayit, where he moved with his family.

After graduating from the Heydar Aliyev Higher Military School, he began serving in the Azerbaijani army as an officer.

In 2003, by order of the national leader, Hashimov was awarded the medal "For Military Service," and six years later in 2009, at the rank of colonel, by order of President Ilham Aliyev - the medal "For the Fatherland".

On June 25, 2014, he was awarded the Order "For service to the Fatherland", III degree, and for his valor during the April 2016 fighting, he was awarded the Order "For the service to the Fatherland", II degree. During the April battles, he was chief of staff of the First Army Corps and made a significant contribution to the clearing of heights near the village of Talysh.

On June 25, 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Major General.

Hashimov was then appointed Chief of Staff of the Third Army Corps.

Polad Hashimov became a martyr during fierce fighting in the direction of Tovuz on July 14, 2020.

He was buried on July 15 in the Second Martyrs Alley.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev personally expressed his condolences to Polad Hashimov's mother during a telephone conversation.

On December 9, 2020, he was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero by a decree of the head of state.
