Iran displays advanced military might at international exhibition

At the recently concluded Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX 2024), the Islamic Republic of Iran took center stage, presenting a formidable display of its naval and aerial warfare capabilities.

The spotlight was on three pivotal assets within the Iranian defense arsenal: the IRIS Jamaran (Moudge class frigate), the IRIS Separ (Sina class fast attack craft), and the Shahed 149 Gaza drone, Army Recognition reported on March 28.

IRIS Jamaran (Moudge Class Frigate): Specifications and Capabilities

The IRIS Jamaran serves as the lead ship of the Moudge class, showcasing Iran's shipbuilding expertise. This frigate, designed for multi-role operations, includes anti-ship and anti-aircraft systems, making it a versatile component of Iran's naval force.

Technical specifications highlight its displacement at approximately 1,500 tons, length of 95 meters, and equipped with a helicopter landing deck for multi-dimensional warfare. Its armament includes surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air missiles, and naval guns, complemented by advanced radar and electronic warfare systems for enhanced operational capabilities.

IRIS Separ (Sina Class Fast Attack Craft): Design and Armament

The Sina class fast attack craft, represented by the IRIS Separ, is engineered for quick assault missions and maritime security operations. With a displacement of around 275 tons and a length of 47 meters, the Separ is designed for high-speed maneuvers and rapid deployment. It is armed with anti-ship missiles, a main gun for surface targets, and secondary armaments for close-range defense, making it a formidable asset for Iran's naval strategy in littoral waters.

Shahed 149 Gaza Drone:

Among the notable exhibits was the Shahed 149 Gaza drone, which underscores Iran's advanced strides in UAV technology. The Shahed 149 is engineered for strategic depth and operational flexibility, featuring a wingspan of approximately 5.3 meters, facilitating extended endurance flights beyond 24 hours. This capability is complemented by its operational range, reaching up to 2,000 kilometers, allowing for substantial coverage and prolonged surveillance missions.

Equipped with precision-guided munitions, the Gaza drone is designed for both intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions and targeted strike operations, highlighting Iran's focus on integrating asymmetric warfare elements into its strategic arsenal.
