Iran nuclear energy chief slams UN nuclear watchdog for "leaking" reports
The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami has said the alleged "disclosure of confidential reports on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to the opponents" of negotiations for restoring the nuclear deal is "politically motivated" and "unprofessional".
In an interview with Russia's state-run Sputnik on February 8, Eslami insisted that Iran's nuclear programme is peaceful and rejected allegations that the Islamic Republic seeks nuclear weapons.
He also maintained that Iran is committed to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
On January 22, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian warned that Tehran may consider leaving the NPT if the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) is designated as a terrorist organisation by the European Union.
