He made the remarks ahead of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, which is expected to focus on Global South cooperation, financial and banking linkages, trade diversification, and reforms to international economic governance.
Gharibabadi said Iran, with its geopolitical, energy, transit, scientific and human capacities, could play a constructive role in advancing BRICS objectives, including balanced development, economic security, and regional connectivity.
He also underlined opposition to unilateral coercive measures, particularly those imposed by the United States, describing them as harmful to development and economic justice.
He added that BRICS would achieve its historic potential if it functions as a platform based on equality, mutual respect, and independence in decision-making, while resisting monopoly, sanctions, and coercive policies.
