Kazakh grain train bound for Armenia reaches Baku’s Bilajary station
A freight train consisting of 15 wagons carrying Kazakh grain to Armenia via Azerbaijan has arrived at the Bilajary railway station in Baku.
The cargo is being transported along the Yalama–Bilajary–Hajigabul–Boyuk Kasik route, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The train will then proceed through Georgia before reaching its final destination — Dalarik station in Armenia.
The shipment consists of 1,048.8 tons of wheat.
Meanwhile, the Russian Transport Ministry announced that Russia plans to send another 132 wagons of wheat to Armenia by the end of January 2026 via a new railway route that passes through the territory of Azerbaijan.
“By the end of January 2026, another 132 wagons of wheat are expected to be shipped along this route. Deliveries of other types of cargo are also being considered,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry said this marks the first instance of cargo transportation to Armenia through Azerbaijan since the 1990s.
A train carrying Russian wheat — a total of 15 wagons, containing over 1,000 tons of wheat —arrived in Armenia early on November 6, after passing through Azerbaijan and Georgia.
On October 21, 2025, during his visit to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijan had lifted all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia. This decision marked a significant step toward peace between the two nations. The first shipment under this new arrangement was a consignment of Kazakh grain, transported via Azerbaijan and Georgia to Armenia—the first such transit since the Soviet era.
