MFA Iran: Military drills not directed against our neighbours in South Caucasus
The large-scale military drills that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) carried out in the Western Azerbaijan province (North Iran) are not aimed against their neighbours in the South Caucasus.
As the Iranian ISNA reports, Naseer Kanaani, the spokesperson for the country’s foreign ministry has said during the weekly press briefing of the diplomatic body.
“The training of our armed forces is not directed against any of our neighbours in the South Caucasus… Whoever was meant to receive advance notice on the conduction of those military training has received it and will still do so”, Kanaani remarked.
Caliber.Az recalls, that the IRCG started a massive military drill of their ground troops on October 17 along the Iranian bank of the Araz river, which forms the border between Azerbaijan and the country. They have lasted for several days.
