Mirzoyan once again crosses out Armenia's commitments in Trilateral Statement Armenian-style "peace treaty"
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan is a new person in the diplomatic field, he became the chief diplomat of the "land of stones" not by profession or vocation, but by appointment. That is why he lacks such necessary qualities in this sphere as the ability to present his thoughts eloquently, to listen to the interlocutor, and the ability to convince. Sometimes it takes decades, not years, for a career diplomat to take the chair of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. But the archivist and former junior researcher at the "Armenian 'Genocide' Museum-Institute" of the National Academy of Sciences suddenly became a Foreign Minister overnight due to his ties with the incumbent Prime Minister. Apparently, working in such a specific institution as the "Armenian 'Genocide' Museum-Institute" has left an imprint on Mirzoyan's worldview and behavior for the rest of his life, and therefore he still cannot get rid of the habit of lying and distorting facts. Or maybe it's still the consequences of kicks in the head, which Mirzoyan got from his compatriots on the night of November 10, 2020?
So, in his speech on December 7 at the National Assembly, Mirzoyan thoroughly made a mistake, distorting the essence of the Trilateral Statement of November 10, 2020. "Armenia does not have any armed formations in Nagorno–Karabakh [Karabakh region of Azerbaijan], but the 'defence army' of Karabakh is necessary and needed," he said.
In fact, with this recognition, Mirzoyan crossed out Armenia's obligations set out in the Trilateral Statement of November 10, 2020, which was signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, and whose fulfillment is guaranteed by the President of Russia. According to Mirzoyan's logic, Armenians need the "defence army" "for protection." According to him, "the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh [Karabakh region of Azerbaijan] continue to be shot at, various kinds of pressure are exerted on them." At the same time, "when the danger of ethnic cleansing of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh [Karabakh region of Azerbaijan] disappears, the Armenians of Karabakh will be able to discuss other possible scenarios."
Thus, it appears that official Yerevan is looking for an excuse not to withdraw the remnants of armed formations from Karabakh, and is ready to dodge all the way just not to do it. Mirzoyan's arguments are ridiculous, absurd, and absolutely unreliable even for those with whom official Yerevan is trying to be nice. It is well known that Armenians regularly shell the positions of the Azerbaijani Army both on the conditional border and in Karabakh. By doing this they are trying to provoke the Azerbaijani military to return fire so that they can again scream to the world about "Azerbaijani aggression". And this is exactly the reason why Yerevan is avoiding the process of delimitation and demarcation of the border with Azerbaijan in every possible way. Simply because then it will become clear who exactly is encroaching on the sovereignty of territories, and on whose side are the provocateurs. This fact comes out especially clearly when Yerevan lies about Azerbaijan's "aggression". It would seem that the delimitation and demarcation of the border will immediately allow this issue to be resolved. But Yerevan shies away from negotiations. Because in reality, this situation is beneficial for Armenia to carry out provocations.
Moreover, by announcing that it is impossible to dissolve the "defence army", Mirzoyan violates Clause 4 of the Trilateral Statement of November 10, where Yerevan's obligations are black and white. Namely: "The peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is deployed in parallel with the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces."
Armenia has been evading its obligations for more than two years, which was confirmed by Mirzoyan on December 7. So, if Yerevan tries to evade by such tricky ways, then, very soon, probably, Mirzoyan will have to watch the Azerbaijani servicemen quickly and effectively clean up all the terrorist scum called "defence army" on the whole territory of Karabakh. The "iron fist" will put everything in its place.
Of course, Mirzoyan's lies that the ethnic Armenian population in Karabakh is suffering from some kind of pressure from outside and generally that someone is infringing upon them or planning to carry out "ethnic cleansing" doesn't stand up to criticism either. It's unlikely that the head of MFA hasn't heard how the president of Azerbaijan has repeatedly assured in his speeches that "the ethnic Armenian population of Karabakh will live better than before" and that "they will have the same rights as the citizens of Azerbaijan". The fact that no one and nothing threatens the Armenians of Karabakh is also confirmed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who recently declared confidence that "the Azerbaijani side is ready to discuss this, to provide all guarantees of the rights to which other citizens of Azerbaijan are entitled." Moreover, as President Aliyev said, "Azerbaijan has already begun to establish direct contacts with the ethnic Armenian population of Karabakh and they are very successful, the parties find a common language."
During his speech in the National Assembly, Mirzoyan also lamented that "if Azerbaijanis close the Lachin corridor, it will be a gross violation of the Trilateral Statement".
Azerbaijan does not plan, at least for now, to close the Lachin road, but all of Baku's obligations to maintain this transport artery are directly related to the fact that Armenia also pledged in the Trilateral Statement to fulfill a number of conditions, which Mirzoyan deliberately does not mention. All of this is well known, but it would not hurt to remember it in order to expose the Armenian diplomat as a liar.
The ninth point of the Trilateral Statement reads: "Armenia guarantees the security of transport communication between the western regions of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in order to organize the unimpeded movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargoes in both directions. And when one wonders, will this obligation of Armenia be fulfilled? Yerevan not only opposes the opening of the Zangazur corridor, but Armenians also use the Lachin road for smuggling weapons and armament of the remaining separatists. Azerbaijan intends to put an end to this.
Well, as they say, the facts are obvious: Armenia is evading its obligations maliciously. And that is why Baku can simply make Armenians' fears come true in one day, if Yerevan is so stubborn about it, purely out of a desire to support the peace process in the South Caucasus and fulfill all the provisions of the Trilateral Statement. This includes setting up checkpoints on the Lachin road to check all cargoes and persons entering Azerbaijani territory, and cleaning up what Mirzoyan calls the "defence army".
