Over 1,500 Armenian trucks stuck at Upper Lars border checkpoint
More than 1,500 Armenian trucks are currently waiting in an electronic queue to cross the Russian-Georgian border at the Upper Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia.
The total number of vehicles in the queue has reached 4,881, with 1,573 trucks specifically awaiting passage to Georgia, Caliber.Az reports, referring to the Centre for Road Traffic Management of North Ossetia.
The extensive delays have been ongoing for several days, with drivers facing long wait times due to significant congestion at both the checkpoints and the "neutral road" area. The situation is exacerbated by the peak export season and a high volume of passenger and freight traffic.
On average, around 150 Armenian trucks pass through the Upper Lars checkpoint daily. The Georgian Military Road, which connects Armenia with Russia via Georgia, remains the only operational land route between the two countries, making this congestion particularly impactful.
