Over dozen of families relocate to villages in Azerbaijan’s Khojaly district
Sixty-seven people from 13 families have been relocated to the villages of Tazabina and Sayidbayli in Azerbaijan’s Khojaly district as part of the government’s resettlement programme.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service for Aghdara district and Khojaly, nine families comprising 51 people moved to Tazabina village, while four families with 16 people returned to Sayidbayli village, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Mahmud Afandiyev, Deputy Executive Director of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service for the districts of Khankandi, Aghdara and Khojaly, handed over the keys to the new homes to the returning families in Khojaly city.
Afandiyev also outlined the large-scale restoration and reconstruction work underway in Khankandi city and the districts of Khojaly and Aghdara, noting that essential infrastructure has been established to ensure safe and comfortable living conditions for residents. Houses in the villages have been supplied with electricity, natural gas and drinking water.
Launched after Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44-day 2020 war, the Great Return initiative aims to resettle over one million formerly internally displaced persons (IDPs) in their ancestral lands by 2030. The programme focuses on rebuilding housing and infrastructure, establishing schools and healthcare facilities, restoring utilities, clearing mines, and promoting sustainable development.
