Political analyst: Armenians should get rid of hatred towards Azerbaijan and Türkiye
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the KUPOL International Cooperation Support Fund Sarkis Asatryan said that the Armenian people should get rid of hatred towards Azerbaijanis.
He published the relevant statement on Facebook, Caliber.Az reports.
"The situation in Armenia is the result of what Armenia has been following consciously and unconsciously for 30-35 years. The fact is that I was previously engaged in political activity in Armenia itself, heading a party. At that time I was still talking about it, that virtual visions of the future do not intersect with reality in any way. Perhaps I said it in a complicated way, but I think that intelligent people should understand me. And those people who are shortsighted, don't need to understand everything, because they act emotionally rather than consciously anyway. The thing is that striving all the time for a virtual future, a virtual Motherland, expressing the desire to take, conquer, win, to become number one, to become the best, to be the oldest nation in the world, attributing all great people to oneself, including not necessarily Armenians, but still attributing, - these are all illusions like drug intoxication. This is a kind of political or cultural morphinism, I would call it, stupefaction, when you are in a virtual world you've created, you believe in this virtual world and try to convince others of the rightness and reality of this virtual world.
Consistent pragmatism can lead Armenia to a completely different stage of development. We have not had consistent pragmatism for millennia. We are a very emotional people, mostly our perceptions are emotional, we have always tried and are trying to present wishful thinking as reality. And someone has to say that this is wrong. Let it be me, I have to speak at home and point out what is hindering us today. The lack of consistent pragmatism is the most significant problem for all Armenians and citizens of Armenia today because there are still representatives of other nationalities living in Armenia.
I would like to say once again that I regard the situation in Armenia as a historical chance for revival. We need to discard the imaginary so-called values, which have always hindered us, and perhaps it was introduced from the outside so that we would not be successful. And now we have to think about economic rise, about Armenia being in this interesting geographical space, a very interesting place, by the way, you have to love this place. Many people for some reason don't love it, they say that we are unlucky with our neighbours, we are unlucky with the land, we are unlucky with the climate. That's rubbish. Everything is fine. Even though we have neighbours who don't like us yet. And we don't like them. That's true. But we have to find a way out. You can't have four neighbours in a stairwell and have all four of your neighbours be abnormal. Here's the problem, there's probably something else going on with you. You label every neighbour. Is that normal? If now we go into history, who did what to whom, yes, it's okay. History should be respected, but you should learn lessons from history, not hatred.
If you take hatred out of history and create parties and society based on hatred towards neighbours, it poisons your spiritual organism. All those nations that live by hatred, have no future. But this does not only concern Armenia, it concerns our neighbours as well. The same thing that I am saying now about Armenia also applies to our neighbours. They should not live with hatred towards Armenians either. Armenians should get rid of hatred towards their neighbours, first of all towards Türkiye and Azerbaijan. You know, the easiest thing to do now is to turn this video off and criticise me that I'm not like that. Yes, I'm not like that because maybe I can see further than the horizon. Yes, I'm not like that, because I see Armenia's future only in an era of peace, a dignified peace. Yes, I believe that one should have at least equal relations with neighbours, not enemy relations. But this also applies to our neighbours," said Sarkis Asatryan.
