Prices increase in Armenia by more than 9% over year

04 November 2022 20:21

The Armenian Statistical Committee has published the price growth index for October 2022.

According to these data, prices have increased in Armenia by 9.5 per cent over the past year compared to October 2021, and by 0.3 per cent over the past month (in October compared to September), Sputnik Armenia reports.

The products became more expensive over the year, in particular, bread and cereals increased by 18.6 per cent, meat – by 12.3 per cent, and dairy products and eggs – by 10.4 per cent.

The prices for recreation and cultural services also rose by 14.1 per cent while services in restaurants and hotels by 9.3 per cent, which is, apparently, connected with the demand caused by numerous Russians who moved to Armenia.

Proceeding from the official statistics, the rise in prices for services in restaurants and hotels continued in October as well. The clothing and footwear prices also increased by 1.5 per cent, which may be connected with the autumn season.

Vegetables increased in price by 4.5 per cent while fruits, on the contrary, decreased in price by 3.6 per cent.

Prices for meat and fish remained unchanged in October compared to September. Bread increased in price by 0.3 per cent, dairy products - by 1.1 per cent, and sugar - by 1.5 per cent.

The cost of communication and education services has not changed while transport services have fallen in price by 0.1 per cent.
