Putin's aide declares Russia-Germany relations at standstill Dialogue all but ceased
Current discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reveal a stark absence of common ground, as relations between Moscow and Berlin have effectively dwindled to nothing.
Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for the Russian president, emphasized this point in a statement to reporters, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“At present, there are no common topics for dialogue. Our relations have been virtually reduced to zero, and this is not due to our initiative,” he noted in response to inquiries about the state of diplomatic engagement.
Peskov reaffirmed that President Putin has always remained open to dialogue.
In a related development, it was reported that Berlin intends to reach out to the Russian leader ahead of the upcoming G20 summit in November. However, Peskov clarified that no such requests had been received from Germany.
Dmitry Peskov also addressed the potential for temporary restrictions on air travel to Middle Eastern countries amid rising tensions in the region.
When asked about travel limitations for delegations to Middle Eastern states, Peskov stated, “I cannot comment on the schedule of trips, as it may vary by agency. However, many airlines are currently avoiding flights to the area. Additionally, Iran's airspace is closed.” He added, “Therefore, temporary restrictions may indeed be implemented.”
