Research centre for Turkish-Armenian relations opened in Erzurum
In the province of Erzurum in eastern Türkiye, the opening of the Centre for the Study of Turkish-Armenian Relations took place on June 19.
The head of the Erzurum municipality, Mehmet Sekmen, spoke at the opening of the centre named after Professor Erol Kurkcuoglu, Anadolu reports.
He recalled that the well-known historian Kurkcuoglu devoted more than 20 years of his life to the topic of Turkish-Armenian relations.
Along with the centre in Erzurum, there will also be a library named after Professor Erol Kurkcuoglu, which contains thousands of documents and publications on the topic of Armenian-Turkish relations.
According to archival documents, Armenian gangs killed more than 50,000 civilians in Erzurum. Moreover, people were subjected to such cruel tortures, which were not even during the period of the Inquisition. They killed defenceless old people, women and children,” Sekmen recalled.
According to him, the atrocities of the Armenian gangs were recorded not only in Erzurum but also in other parts of Eastern Anatolia.
The head of the municipality expressed hope that the new centre would contribute to exposing the lies about the pseudo-Armenian genocide.
