Rossotrudnichestvo hopes its offices remain in Armenia despite pressure from lobbies
Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), has said he hopes the Armenian authorities will have enough prudence to keep the presence of the centres in the country.
"I really hope that the Armenian leadership will have the prudence to maintain the presence of Rossotrudnichestvo centres," Shevtsov said when asked whether there were risks of freezing the operation of the Russian House in Armenia due to attempts to undermine Russia's influence in the country, Caliber.Az reports.
He added that there are many people in Armenia and Russia who are interested in developing humanitarian relations between the countries.
"We are not going to move away from this activity. We have a development plan for next year. We hope that the general situation will not affect the activities of our centre," Shevtsov noted.
Earlier, during a press conference on the results of the high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Armenia has the most powerful lobby of non-governmental organisations that are trying to undermine Russia's influence in the country.
