Russia redeploys troops to Syria's Jirah airfield

Russia's army commanders have moved their contingent in northern Syria towards Jirah military airfield, 45 km south of Manbij City and 75 km from the Turkish border.

The move is aimed at boosting Russia's military presence in northern Syria, which is controlled by Bashar al-Assad's supporters, according to Anadolu.

Jirah airfield has 12 hangars and a 3 km runway. Russian air defence systems are currently defending the airport.

As reported, this military facility will be used jointly by units of the Russian army and the Assad regime forces stationed there.

Earlier, the Russian military was deployed south of the city of al-Bab, which was cleared by the Turkish army of Daesh terrorists as part of Operation Euphrates Shield.
