Russia, South Africa strengthen military cooperation
Delegations from Russia and South Africa signed an agreement on enhancing bilateral military cooperation, Russian Defence Ministry said.
“During the meeting of military leaders, agreements were reached on further increasing cooperation between the armed forces in various areas,” the ministry said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
During the talks with the South African side, Army General, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces, Oleg Salyukov, emphasized that “for Russia, cooperation with African partners is of a strategic and long-term nature”.
He characterized the interaction between Russia and South Africa as “friendly, reliable, and equal relations.”
Earlier, it was reported that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa refused to meet with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who arrived on a visit to Pretoria.
