SIPRI: Azerbaijan one of key Israeli arms importers in 2018-22
Azerbaijan ranked 53rd in the list of world arms importers for the period 2018-2022.
Azerbaijan ranked 22nd in the previous five-year plan (2013-2017), Interfax-Azerbaijan reports, citing the most recent Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) data on the global arms trade.
According to SIPRI estimates, in 2018-2022, Azerbaijan was one of the key importers of weapons from Israel (Azerbaijan's share is 9.1 per cent in Israeli arms exports), ranking second after India (37 per cent) in terms of the volume of weapons purchased from Tel Aviv.
At the same time, the materials of the analytical centre for Azerbaijan provide data for 2018-2020, there is no information for 2021-2022.
According to SIPRI estimates, Azerbaijan purchased aviation equipment, artillery, armoured vehicles, missiles, and surveillance systems in 2018-2020, and also replenished the fleet.
