Afgan Isayev, Vice President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), participated in the “International Energy Week 2025” conference held in London from February 25 to 27.
Over 1,500 representatives from more than 50 countries attended the event, which focused on global energy demand, energy transition, and the reduction of carbon emissions, Caliber.Az reports.
During his speech, Isayev provided detailed information on SOCAR’s strategy for decarbonization and energy transition. He emphasized the company’s goal of achieving zero emissions by 2050 and discussed the various projects SOCAR is currently implementing to reach this ambitious target.
Isayev also highlighted SOCAR’s active involvement in prestigious international initiatives and organizations. SOCAR collaborates with initiatives such as MGP, IOGP, OGCI, and OGMP 2.0. Furthermore, SOCAR is one of the co-founders of the OGDC Charter and is represented in its Steering Committee. These collaborations reflect SOCAR’s significant contribution to environmental protection and its commitment to achieving sustainable development goals.
Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Baku, SOCAR is a central player in Azerbaijan's energy sector, covering the full spectrum of the oil and gas industry. The company's reach extends across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, with flagship projects like the Shah Deniz gas field and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, which enhance Europe’s energy security by transporting natural gas and oil from the Caspian Sea.
Recently, SOCAR has also expanded into sustainable energy, focusing on wind, solar power, and green hydrogen technologies to diversify its portfolio and contribute to global energy transition efforts.
