Speaker: Closing checkpoints on the border with Russia to cost Finland €3 billion euros
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has expressed the opinion that the closure of checkpoints (checkpoints) on the border with Russia will cost Finland €3 billion.
"This decision will cost the Finns, according to some estimates, about €3 billion," the MP wrote on his Telegram page.
Volodin also believes that several problems await Finland in the West. For example, it will have to significantly increase its military spending "because of its ill-considered and hasty accession to NATO."
Volodin said that by "lowering the Iron Curtain" at the borders with Russia, the Finnish authorities are "punishing" first of all their citizens, depriving the country of the opportunity to develop.
Since November 24, by the decision of Finland, only one open checkpoint has remained on the entire Russian-Finnish border - the Lotta international checkpoint in the Kola district of the Murmansk region.
Helsinki explained such a drastic step by the desire to ensure the safety of its citizens and prevent an influx of illegal migrants. The Finnish authorities even asked the European border agency Frontex to allocate 60 employees to strengthen border security.
