Surge in cyber fraud targets Azerbaijani bank customers - ESS warns
26 August 2024 20:45
Azerbaijan has seen a rise in cyber fraud cases where emails are sent to citizens on behalf of local banks, attempting to deceive them into confirming banking operations.
According to Caliber.Az, citing the Electronic Security Service (ESS), fraudsters are creating fake email addresses that mimic those of various banks operating in Azerbaijan, using them to send out fraudulent messages.
These emails often contain malicious attachments with keylogger programs, enabling cybercriminals to steal users' personal data. The ESS strongly advises citizens to remain vigilant, avoid opening suspicious attachments, and immediately contact their bank to verify the authenticity of any questionable communication.
