TANAP, TAP become symbols of safe supply amidst energy crisis - minister
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov has said that the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) have become symbols of security of supply amidst the energy crisis.
The minister made the remarks during the second Azerbaijani-Turkish Energy Forum in Istanbul on October 6, Report informs.
“Azerbaijan and Türkiye have become countries of strategic interest in sustainable energy security. The growing geostrategic role of Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the realities of a complex geopolitical and energy crisis is the embodiment of the policy pursued by the heads of state - Mr. Ilham Aliyev and Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in their person - the combined power of Azerbaijan and Türkiye," Shahbazov emphasized.
The minister pointed out that 18 billion cubic metres of natural gas were supplied to Türkiye via TANAP from July 2018 to October this year and during the first nine months of 2022 - 4.2 billion of the 6.1 billion cubic metres of gas supplied to the country. By 2023, gas exports from Azerbaijan to Türkiye will reach 9.3 billion cubic metres.
The minister also noted that electricity from Azerbaijan through the Zangazur corridor can be exported both to Türkiye and to Europe.
SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, Deputy Chairman of Azerenerji Company Vugar Shahmuradov, Chairman of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of Azerbaijan Orkhan Mammadov, Director of a department of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) Tural Hajili, Director General of BOTAS Burkhan Ozjan, Director General of TPAO Melih Khan Bilgin and others also attended the forum.
At the end of the meeting, the protocol of the II Azerbaijani-Turkish Energy Forum is expected to be signed.
